CBAM Advisory & Readiness Support
Prepare defensible embedded-emissions data, strengthen installation-level MRV and support your EU customers through the CBAM definitive regime. GSustain provides end-to-end CBAM advisory services for exporters across Qatar, the GCC, and MENA — from applicability screening and CN-code analysis through to verification-ready evidence files and decarbonisation planning. CBAM advisory and verification-readiness support. Formal CBAM verification must be completed by an appropriately EU-accredited CBAM verifier.
What We Do
End-to-end advisory support — from initial applicability screening through to verification-ready evidence files and decarbonisation planning.
Confirm which products fall within CBAM scope, identify relevant CN codes, and assess applicability for simple and complex goods.
Installation-level calculation support covering direct emissions, applicable indirect emissions from electricity, and emissions embedded in precursor materials.
Design monitoring, reporting, and verification systems at the production-process level — documenting methodology, data flows, and quality controls.
Build verification-ready evidence files, documented calculation workbooks, and internal-controls matrices for efficient engagement with a CBAM-accredited verifier.
Prepare structured information packages for your EU customers containing the installation and emissions data they need for CBAM declarations.
Indicative CBAM exposure scenarios and prioritised decarbonisation roadmaps to improve competitiveness over time.
Important Distinction
GSustain provides CBAM advisory, calculation-preparation, MRV-development, and verification-readiness services. These help organisations build the data, documentation, and systems needed for CBAM compliance.
Formal CBAM Verification
Requires EU Accreditation
Must be performed by a verifier
accredited specifically for CBAM
by an eligible EU/EEA national
accreditation body

How We Work
A structured approach from initial applicability screening through to ongoing support and decarbonisation planning.
Confirm CBAM product coverage, map EU export flows, identify relevant CN codes, and assess the scale of exposure across your product portfolio.
Define installation boundaries, document production processes, identify all direct and indirect emission sources, and map precursor-material inputs.
Assess current data availability against CBAM requirements. Identify gaps in monitoring, calculation methodology, evidence documentation, and internal controls.
Develop compliant emissions calculations using EU-specified methodology, establish monitoring approach, and build quality-control procedures with documented workbooks.
Assemble the complete evidence file, source-data register, internal-controls matrix, and methodology documentation for efficient engagement with a CBAM-accredited verifier.
Support EU-importer data exchanges, monitor regulatory developments, and develop prioritised decarbonisation roadmaps to improve CBAM competitiveness over time.
Is This For You
CBAM advisory is relevant for any organisation producing or exporting goods to the EU in covered sectors.
Aluminium smelters and downstream processors exporting to EU markets
Steel and DRI producers with European customers or supply-chain exposure
Cement and clinker manufacturers exploring or maintaining EU export routes
Fertiliser and ammonia producers (urea, ammonium nitrate, mixed fertilisers) exporting to Europe
Hydrogen project developers targeting EU offtake agreements
Industrial groups with multiple CBAM-covered products seeking coordinated advisory
Intermediaries and traders managing CBAM data flows between producers and EU importers
Electricity generators and interconnector operators with EU market linkage
Sectors
Tailored advisory for each covered sector, reflecting distinct production processes and data requirements.
Our Advantage
Local presence across the GCC. We understand your production processes, energy systems, and regulatory context.
GAB-accredited GHG verification body with deep expertise in emissions measurement, calculation, and assurance.
Aluminium, steel, cement, fertilisers, hydrogen — we understand the production processes and emission sources specific to CBAM-covered goods.
Detailed knowledge of CBAM legislation, implementing regulations, sector guidance, and the evolving EU regulatory landscape.
Clear, scoped engagements with fixed fees. No time-and-materials surprises.
From initial screening through to verification-readiness handover and ongoing regulatory monitoring.

Expert Answers
CBAM obligations fall on the authorised CBAM declarant, which is typically the EU importer or their indirect customs representative. However, the exporter or installation operator must provide the embedded-emissions data and installation information that the declarant needs for their annual CBAM declaration. Exporters who cannot supply reliable actual-emissions data may find their products assessed using EU default values.
CBAM currently covers goods in six sectors: cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity, and hydrogen. Applicability is determined at the level of specific goods and their CN (Combined Nomenclature) codes, not at the sector level alone.
The first annual CBAM declaration covering imports during the 2026 calendar year is due by 30 September 2027. The declarant must submit the declaration and surrender the corresponding CBAM certificates by that date.
Yes. Authorised CBAM declarants may use default values published by the European Commission where actual verified emissions data is not available. However, where verified actual emissions are lower than the applicable default, using actual data may reduce the number of certificates required.
GSustain provides CBAM advisory services including embedded-emissions calculation support, MRV system design, and verification-readiness preparation. Formal CBAM verification must be performed by a verifier accredited specifically for CBAM by an eligible EU or EEA national accreditation body. GSustain's existing GAB accreditation under ISO 14065 does not, on its own, constitute CBAM verification accreditation.
